Putting Multimodality to Use.

There is exciting news to share!

The AILA2020-organizers have just opened the Call for Papers for next year’s congress, which takes places from 09-14 August 2020 in Groningen, The Netherlands.

Together with my colleagues Hartmut Stöckl (University of Salzburg) and Janina Wildfeuer (University of Groningen), I am convening a 1-day symposium. We’d be delighted to have you join the discussion!

Symposium

PUTTING MULTIMODALITY TO USE
CORPUS-BASED APPLICATIONS OF MULTIMODALITY
AND THEIR IMPLICATIONS FOR THEORY AND METHODS

Brief description

Multimodality research has recently spawned robust theoretical-methodological frameworks which are now well-placed to uncover the complexities of authentic multimodal texts, to identify real-world problems, and offer practical solutions. Aiming for a solid empirical grounding, the showcased studies are corpus-based. They illustrate current multimodal approaches and raise future challenges in applied research.
